Elizabeth Sunflower

Fearless with a camera in many dangerous situations

About Elizabeth

Elizabeth Sunflower was in the right place at the right time with a camera over and over again beginning in the late 1960s.

A working photojournalist, her keen sense of intriguing pop culture stories generated images ranging from the Human Be-In (Summer of Love, January 1967), The Rolling Stones ill-fated concert at Altamont (December 1969), women’s liberation movement (early 1970’s), Manson family members Bobby Beausoleil and Squeaky Fromme, anti-war protests, Bill Graham’s Fillmore West, the Beat Poets and the groundbreaking stripper scene of San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood that Elizabeth called home.

Her archive is rich with Bay Area history and news stories that captivated the attention of the entire country!
